The 4th Annual DigitalLife - September 27-30, 2007 @ Javits Center in New York City
Story by Sonny Davé

New York – The Digital Life convention debuted in 2004. This was my first time at this convention. It was a lot smaller than I expected. This show was more of an introduction into the world of electronics and gaming industry.

Someone asked me a question at the show: If I can have any one thing from the show and price was no object, what would it be?

My answer: Right before you enter the show floor, there was a beautiful light blue Mustang convertible tricked out by Nokia. I want that! If you went to the show, you know what I mean.

Highlights from the Show:

HP – The new HP Photosmart C6280 and C7280 were really cool. A representative enlarged a wallet size picture to a 4 x 6 without any noticeable loss of quality.

The TouchSmart desktop would make a great family organizing tool and get rid of clutter on the fridge.

The Blackbird - the ultimate gaming machine was introduced. This desktop had a liquid cooling system and no wires inside. All the components were snapped in place. Really cool!

Gateway – Introduced their new desktop model named The One. Nice design small footprint, great for college students.

Toshiba – introduced 3 new HD DVD players. Starting prices will be $299, $399 and $499. Also introduced some high-end laptops.

Logitech – they had a nice family of wireless products from keyboards to remotes.

Parrot – had a family of Bluetooth products and picture frames coming out. New hands-free car kit with detachable screen and steering wheel control.

Mio – introduced new models of portable navigation.

Dell – had their desktops, LCD screens, and colorful laptops.

Clip Hangar – hangar attaches to your cell phone, PDA or music player and then you can hang it off your belt loop or purse strap.

Hasbro – showcased some of their kids toys like their guitars, new Girl Tech toys and more.

Nokia – introduced their N-series products

Fujitsu – introduced their ScanSnap S510 for PC and S500M for the Mac. These are perfect for small office.

BOB – a screen time controller that allows the parents to turn off or “unplug “ game systems or TV’s.

Wowwee – the makers of the Dragonfly introduced FlyTech Barry the flying bee from the Bee movie.

Zipit Wireless Messenger 2 – wireless IM device without monthly fees. This can be used at “hotspots” or in any WiFi network area.

EGO – introduced the EGO iceBar a portable, shatterproof and waterproof speaker system that works with both generations of the iPod Nano.

Pentax, Nero, Digital Scrapbook Memories, Lasting Impressions and Honestech and Quartics  had some really cool products.

If you are a gamer they had lots of gaming areas with lots of different games.

We will be providing more in-depth reviews of some of these products.
